HIMALAYAS CHILDREN ACADEMY is founded on the strong belief
that an integrated, thematic, experiential approach is the most effective and
powerful way to educate children. While providing a lot of emphasis on Outdoor
and Adventure education which provides structure for many parts of the
curriculum throughout the school & integrates practical life with the
learning in School.
The curriculum
at HIMALAYAS CHILDREN ACADEMY is not child centered or teacher directed. It is child
originated and teacher framed. And hence, it is a 'negotiated' or 'emergent' curriculum
which captures the constructive, continual and reciprocal relation among
teachers, children and parents and is extremely dynamic.
All members of
the school: teachers, parents and children, are encouraged to question each
other's thinking and push each other with "why ... did you do ... ?"
At HIMALAYAS CHILDREN ACADEMY, we view the participation of families not as a threat but as
an intrinsic element of congeniality and as the integration of different wisdom.
